Spiders primarily feed upon other insects and most common household insects. They feed on crawling and flying insects just the same. And insects in general require dampness and some decaying organic matter to survive. Hence the solution is obvious. You should remove all organic debris that is just outside of the property and reduce dampness in basements. However, there are natural conditions that support more Spiders in some backyards than others. In unusual circumstances or for low tolerance of these Pests, your only choice may be to have a professional extermination service.
